USS Albacore joins the fleet for war games Here you see the Albacore performing fleet exercises with a Fletcher class "target" |
Type XXI U-boat WWII era This is a picture of my first Uboat. It was 1/48 scale and ended up being about 5 feet long. |
The target heads out to sea! In this photo the models looks like it has two different colors on the upper hull. Not true, it was all primer grey on top and black below the water line. The color difference is an optical illusion. |
Sound collision! As luck would have it I ran short on torpedoes before I could line up on the Destroyer. |
Ahoy! Got any grey Pupon? As you can see in this photo the model now appears all grey. In the previous photos it looked black or two tone grey. |
A second shot of the models close togather The Destroyer was a scratch built model of a pre-WWII type destroyer that the builder served on. The sub was a kit from a company called Rocky Mountain models. It dove and surfaced on command by a pump system with a schnorkle. If you look closely you will see the functional schnorkle in the photos. |

My latest model Here is my Robbe U47 modified to a Type VII-C. It now has a Accurate Armor Conning Tower and will soon have a detailed deck gun as well. At this point she is dry having never seen water. I hope to change that soon! |

My model of the "Uncle Sam" The Uncle Sam is named after my Uncel Sam Rowley who was a tug Captain in Panama. This is a modified Scale Shipyards Carol Moran kit. It has a Dumas 12VDC motor, 3:1 Brass gear reduction drive, 1 3/4 inch brass prop, a Vantech speed controller and lights. I modified the tug by addiung a Gyro room and shortening the stack. I used several local Moran Tugs here in Jacksonville, FL as subject matter. |

The "Uncle Sam" is a Carol Moran kit I purchased from Scale Shipyards. I modified her bridge, smoke stack and mast. She was made to resemble any average assist tug here in Jacksonville, FL. Photos of the local Moran tugs were used. |

The newest model This is my Robbe U-47 kit. I had it built by Chuck Anderson of Model Construction, Chuck did a basic build for me. I have been busy modifying it for some time. It has twin speed 400 motors with 3:1 belt drive reduction, Brass props, dual MCD Super Minicon II speed controllers and an ACE Nautical Commander six channel radio. It also has an Accurate Armor conning tower and deck gun for a more detailed look and update the look to that of a VII-C U-Boot. |
